Hi Besties,
Few weeks ago i stopped a cab and was heading home, the driver wore a white singlet and in front with him was a lady, i told him where i was going and he agreed so i entered the back seat.i thought the lady was a passenger like me, but i got to know she was a friend of the driver.

On our way another Lady stopped the cab and this is what happened,
Driver: Where??
Lady: Goldie
Driver: By where
Lady: By Mount Zion
Driver: Enter
Since i was the only one at the back i shifted to the other side so she'll enter,.......do you know that my babe just stood there looking at the cab..... then she finally said; is this a taxi?..........i could not help but laugh loud..
i know it was dark sha but not too late for her to think that she will be abducted.
i still don't know why she did that.
The driver was soooo pissed, he rained curses on her for making him stop for minutes only to be asked, is
this a taxi.....The Lady in front joined the driver, she was not in the cab but they kept cursing her.
I just sat there thinking of what she saw that made her change her mind and praying that i will get home safe too.
Maybe it's the way the driver was dressed or was is it my fine face that made her scared*winks*....
The car was a commercial taxi, with the government's color and license plate.
yes yes yes i know that all of that does not matter.... I've been abducted before so i know what that lady was cautious of.....don't worry i'll tell you how it happened some day.
When he got to my destination,i quickly paid my bill and got down as fast i could.....lol
So tell me what do you look out for before you enter a cab??
Let's talk :)
We are shaped by our thoughts; we become what we think. When the mind is pure, joy follows like a shadow that never leaves.
Scary! the cab driver shouldn't get mad just because a passenger was concern for her own safety, I would be too. With all that is going on these days, you have to be concern and watch out after yourself. I'm glad you and everyone else made it safely. Yes, I do look for when I use to take a cab, if the driver smoke on the cab I wont get it and I watch for other signals as well.
ReplyDeleteIf a the driver is smoking i won't even stop the cab,Thanks for sharing your thought dear:)
DeleteI look carefully at the driver and the occupants. If they are all black muscular males I wont enter. when I take drops I always roll down the glass and make sure the door can be opened from inside before I shut the door. I love my life :-)
ReplyDeletelol, who doesn't...i feel safe too when the glass is rolled down.
DeleteThanks for Sharing your thought:)
I'm imagining entering such a cab when you are tipsy or drunk ---hahhahahahahh this cab---the minute I find out that the other party is a friend to the driver i make my journey shorter
ReplyDeleteThanks for dropping by at ririzmusings.blogspot.com
hahahahaha, Thanks hun for stopping by too:)
DeleteLol,funny story. If occupants are all males,I won't get in. If the driver has those bloodshot eyes and reeks of alcohol or 'igbo' I won't get in.
ReplyDeletelool, igbo?? why
DeleteIgbo as in weed. In the south south we call Igbo. It has a different pronunciation from the tribe Igbo. Taxis, I listen to the sound of the engine as it drives up, don't want a taxi that'll breakdown half way to my destination, I sit only by the door, and if there are questionable looking men in the taxi, I won't get in..
Deleteokay, i get it now.
DeleteI once entered a cab and the car stopped halfway, i came down, offered the Driver the money he refused it..........i just strolled home>>
Thanks for sharing your thought Noelle

I look out for the side mirror and a fix brake light...that's all I can see from the outside before I enter a taxi...Where am in' good Air freshener can make me double my fare and rain prayers on you. Like the keke I enter this morning, the guy was playing eagle wing - frank edward...cha! When I entered the keke a perceive a soft vanilla mixed with strawberry smell. I greeted everyone inside the keke and said to the driver 'MY OGA GOD GO BLESS YOU FOR YOUR PACKAGING' yum! U for c d see d smile for this guy face. Well its to be good.

DeleteThanks for sharing your thought
lmaooo..my fren ur not ok..lol.
ReplyDeleteToo funny!!!
My experience with taxis in Lagos was getting prices hiked because of my accent. So my standard was to gt someone to stop them for me, bargain and then id get in. Did this for a while before I discovered I could get a regular cabbie at N20k/MONTH :-)
Lovely piece Ugo. Be safe, sorry for the abduction.

Not fair for them drain you because of your accent..
DeleteThanks dear for sharing your thought...
XOX
First I look at how clean the taxi is. Thanks to my extra paranoia, I wouldn't even dare boars a taxi with passengers already. Trust Lagosians, a taxi with a passenger in it is an obvious sign of abduction.
